I placed the mats in the back bedOf my side by side diesel Kawasaki dieselto reduce the noise of the diesel’s engine and it did reduce it almost fifty percent.Great mats for grappling. Extremely affordable. Great tatami like surfaceEvery since the whole pandemic, my son has been doing taekwondo via zoom. After a few months of practicing on the carpet, he started complaining about pain in his legs and feet. So we got him this mat. Ever since then, the discomfort in his legs and feet stop. It’s easy to assemble, easy to clean and does its job of providing a cushion and absorb shocks from all the jumping. They are evenly cut so all the squares are the same size and same thickness. Compare to other mats, it is more expensive so that’s why it’s 4 stars and not 5 stars. I highly recommend it if you or your kids are practicing martial arts at home.I've purchased this mat multiple times throughout the year as I've added to my matted martial arts space. They are no longer worth buying in my opinion. You can tell in the comparison pictures the tatami texture is almost no longer there on the new mats (new mats on left, old mats on right half. It's barely a visual imprint anymore, and the mats are a dangerous slick surface as a result. Luckily i have 2 layers of these mats laid down, so i just ended up putting them under my previous mats so i could use them. The density of the mats appears to be different as well, forms and stays similar to memory foam. The older mats don't seem to do this, but it could be due to the missing tatami texture so I'm not sure. As with most companies now, as time goes on tgeir quality of product decreases while the price increases, and as a result i don't reccomend these mats anymore. DO NOT BUY THESE IF YOU ARE DOING ANY ACTIVITY WITH STANDING MOVEMENT THAT YOU COULD SLIP AND GET HURT DOING.Both sides of these mats are completely smooth and slippery. I can't do planks without my feet slipping. They're also not firm and came with creases and kinks.Padding is very good, but for barefoot martial arts workouts these mats are very slippery. Would not recommend.Bought a couple sets to put together the floor for my basement gym. I don't do a lot of high impact activities there so I can't say how well these hold up to that (I used to do martial arts on concrete and wooden floors like a basketball court, so for high impact, I'm used to those environments). I have a bench and some dumbbells down there. I do mostly ground level exercises and some standing jumps onto my bench. Jumping jacks, etc. These are durable, easy to clean, easy to put together, and fairly comfortable when standing in bare feet or sitting on the mats. Great investment.The mats are nice, thick, take a beating, and stay together well. My son and myself use them to practice martial arts and they are great to work on. But the best part of the mats isn't even the mats themselves. Its the company behind them. They ship quick and they pay attention to what is going on. I ordered the mats two different times. The first time I ordered black and the second time red (did a design with them). Before they shipped out the red mats, they called me to verify that I actually wanted them since I had previously ordered black. Most companies would have just shipped with no thought to the customer. But they took the extra step to make sure I was getting what I wanted.
